Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs


[Ingredients]

  • 500g spare ribs

  • 2tbsp cornstarch

  • Fresh coriander - to garnish

  • Oil for deep-frying

[Marinade]

  • 1tbsp light soy sauce

  • 1tbsp hua tiao jiu

  • 1tsp salt

  • 1/2tsp pepper

  • 1tbsp sesame oil

  • 1tsp baking soda

[Sauce]

  • 2tbsp oil

  • 2tbsp minced garlic

  • 1/4 cup black vinegar

  • 2tbsp sugar

[Steps]

  1. Mix spare ribs with soy sauce, hua tiao jiu, salt, pepper, sesame oil and baking soda. Set aside for 30mins.

  2. Add starch to ribs, mix well.

  3. Deep-fry ribs to golden brown. Drain and set aside.

  4. Heat 2tbsp of oil. Stir-fry garlic till fragrant.

  5. Add in vinegar and sugar, mix well.

  6. Add in ribs and toss well. Serve garnished with coriander.
