Homemade Chocolate Sauce


  • 225g best quality dark chocolate (70% cocoa)

  • 150ml milk

  • 3tbsp whipping cream

  • 2tbsp caster sugar

  • 2tbsp unsalted butter


  1. Melt chocolate in a bowl set over a pan of simmering water.

  2. Combine milk, cream and sugar in a saucepan and bring to boil. Remove from heat and pour into chocolate, stirring continuously.

  3. Return chocolate mixture to pan, bring to boil and immediately remove from heat.

  4. Beat in butter a little at a time until sauce is smooth and glossy. Serve immediately.

  5. This sauce will start to thicken as it cools.

  6. Unused sauce can be stored in the fridge up to 3 days.
