Apple Whoopie Pie


  • 115g Soft Unsalted Butter

  • 200g Soft Brown Sugar

  • 1 Large Egg

  • 1/2tsp Vanilla Essence

  • 225g Apple Sauce

  • 1tsp Baking Powder

  • 1tsp Ground Cinnamon

  • 1/4tsp Ground Cloves

  • 190g Plain Flour


  1. Preheat oven 180degC. Grease two whoopie pie tins with some butter.

  2. Sift flour, cinnamon, cloves and baking powder together, set aside.

  3. In another bowl, whisk butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add in egg and vanilla and mix well.

  4. Fold in half the flour mixture, followed by half the apple sauce, flour and lastly apple sauce.

  5. Drop 1 1/2tbsp of batter into each well of the tins. Bake for 12mins or until whoopies are firm to touch.

  6. Let cool in tins for 5mins then transfer to rack to cool completely.

  7. Apple whoopie pie taste best with this cinnamon cream cheese filling!
