Recipes to Aston's 1st Birthday

If you have not read my post on Aston's 1st Birthday, click here. As you know, Everything shown here is designed and mostly handmade by me (except for the birthday cake). All the desserts, so are the 'plates' that holds them - designed and painted by me. All the decor, including the 'UP' house, the photo album, the table skirting, the coins for the savings jar; all designed, sourced and pieced together all by myself. It took me about 2 weeks to prepare the items and 3 days to bake and make the desserts. All done just for a 3hr party. But this is what I liked, so I am not complaining. In fact, I am more than happy if you will like to approach me to help do up your party!

And I thought... Maybe some of you will be interested and will like to make these desserts for yourself or for your party. All the design materials and where to get the materials are available at the other post.

"One Recipe, Ten Cooks, Ten Different Results."

There are many factors that affects the outcome of a dish - skill, weather and equipment, so I'm never afraid of sharing recipes, even if it is a good recipe.

Here are the recipes to the desserts I did for Aston's 1st birthday:

#1) Mini Custard Fruit Tarts with Assorted Fruits

Recipe here. My version: tart shells from recipe, Phoon Huat's instant custard, assorted fruits of strawberries, blueberries, canned peach slices and kiwi slices, sugar glazed.

#2) Vanilla Cupcakes with White Chocolate Frosting

Recipe here. My version: Better Crockers's yellow cake mix with added vanilla essence, frosting from recipe, rainbow heart sprinkles, with grape soda cupcake toppers.

#3) Tennis Butter Cookies

Recipe here. My version: rainbow heart changed to green circles, sprinkles changed to ground pistachio, white chocolate as icing.

#4) Konnyaku Jelly Cups

Recipe here. My version: 1tbsp of jelly per layer. No orange layer, last layer is 2 portions of the divided 6 portions of jelly, thus last layer is 2tbsp, with rainbow cupcake toppers.

#5) Dark Chocolate Brownie Squares

Recipe here. My version: as per recipe.

#6) Rainbow Fruit Skewers

There is no recipe to this. Just pick your favourite fruits and skewer them up. I chose strawberries, papaya cubes, canned peach cubes, kiwi cubes, 2 blueberries and 2 grapes.

There are not much options for blue and purple, so you probably have to stick to blueberries and grapes. For red, you can also go for raspberries or watermelon. For orange, you can go for orange or hami melon. For yellow, you can go for yellow watermelon, pineapple, banana or mango. And for green, you can also go for white grapes or honeydew.

#7) Tiramisu Cups

Recipe here. My version: as per recipe with wilderness explorer cupcake toppers.
