Day 7: A Few More Cafe Wonders, Back to Singapore

So quickly, 6 days have passed and I am down to the last day in Bangkok, departing this evening. It was fun, but the weather is ruining all. It has been hot, humid, and raining. You know that weird feeling you get after being drenched by the rain? It’s disgusting. But, not gonna go easy on the last day, still gonna continue my cafehopping.

After check-out, with my 20kg suitcase, I first came to Nikko Cafe, a Japanese inspired cafe. Zen interior design, wood, marble, plants, just how I like it. It is a really nice place to chill out! Got a coffee and Omelette Okonomiyaki, which comes served rice topped with an omelette, huge slices of squid, bonito flakes, seaweed, okonomiyaki sauce, mayonnaise, crunchy scallions, and a side of miso soup with onions, potatoes and minced meat in it. It was so so good! With it’s price tag, I didn’t expect it to come with squids and ingredients in the soup. At THB180, I thought it was quite affordable, since some of the desserts I had at other cafes comes out to more than THB200. So this is a real good deal.

The serving ware here is all triangular shaped which I thought it was really cool and makes photos look a little more aesthetic. Their menu looks so cool as well, every dish has a picture to it, a drawn picture! Like usually people put in real photos, but they had watercoloured versions instead. It’s so pretty!

Next was to go to Tealily Matcha House, which is a matcha themed cafe, very near to Nikko Cafe. Unfortunately, they were closed today, so I went to another matcha cafe that is nearby, Peace Oriental Teahouse. Another super nice to relax place. The matcha here is really rich. I ordered the Pastel Matcha, which is an iced matcha latte. For dine in, it is served in a bowl, cold, without ice; which is great. It doesn’t go diluted over time.

This place is designed with the concept of a traditional Japanese teahouse, so you have to remove your footwear before you enter the seating area. Other than regular seating, they do offer the traditional ground seating as well. It is a pity Singapore do not offer such places. Space is limited and expensive, don’t think any cafe owners can survive selling just drinks in Singapore. Matcha lovers, don’t miss this place out!
